What is Halogen pool lighting?

Halogen pool lighting (Incandescent lighting) has been around since Thomas Edison made it commercial in 1873. Halogens provide a bright source of light by heating up an internal element until it glows. This basic prinicpal allows to provide bright lighting at a very affordable price. Halogen blubs can be changed easily unlike LED's which can't.

What is LED pool lighting?

L.E.D stands for Light Emitting Diode. Very different from the typical Halogen (Incandecent light bulbs) made practical by Thomas Edison in 1873. It produces light from a diode not a filament like in halogen lights. Incandscent bulbs make light from 'heating' the element until it glows. However LED's work by using a special diode (the stuff you find inside electronic chips) that emits light without the exessive heat. This method allows LED's to be a powersaver by not producing so much heat. This is why LED lights are much more energy effecient than incandecent blubs. LED's last much longer becuase there is no filament to burn out, or fragile components break over extended use.
